Authentic Thousand Island Dressing Recipe

Try serving it with raw veggies like bell pepper, broccoli, mushrooms, radish, and celery. The chopped eggs are a great ingredient. It is best to chop them very finely, along with the red bell pepper and other chunky ingredients, so the resulting dressing is not too lumpy, or at least does not have large lumps in it. This texture gives it a charming homemade feel which makes it really special, and everyone will see and taste that you made it yourself and did not simply buy a bottle.
- ¾ cup sweet pickle relish
- 1 quart mayonnaise
- ½ cup diced red bell pepper
- ¼ cup Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon white sugar
- 3 eggs
- 1 pinch ground cloves
- ½ cup chopped black olives
- ¼ cup white vinegar
- Put the eggs in a saucepan and cover them with cold water.
- Bring the water to a boil and immediately remove it from the heat.
- Cover the pan and let the eggs stand in the hot water for 10 to 12 minutes.
- Remove them from the hot water, then cool, peel and finely chop them.
- Whisk together the chopped eggs, Worcestershire sauce, sugar, cloves, mayonnaise, relish, vinegar, olives, and red pepper, until evenly blended.
- Chill and serve spooned over fresh greens or a garden salad.
- Store leftovers in the refrigerator.
