The History of Giardino Gourmet Salad

If you have tasted a delicious Giardino Gourmet Salad, you might be interested in discovering a little more about the history of Giardino Gourmet Salad. The Giardino company is famous for using crisp, garden-fresh veggies and fruits, and combining them with homemade croutons and dressings.

The salads are hand-tossed and there are eight branches of Giardino Gourmet Salad, around the South Florida area. Giardino Gourmet Salad was established by Kenny and Ody Lugo, a husband and wife team, five years ago. The first location was in Coral Gables.

Giardino’s Menu

The menu gives you several choices. You can either order a tossed salad, a scoop of mixed salad on your greens, or a soup or garden wrap. You can choose your own toppings, dressing, croutons and other additions and also whether you want some protein, such as chicken, turkey, imitation crab, ham, tofu, shrimp, or tuna.

Desserts include mixed fruit salad, cheesecake, dry fruit, and nut mix and coconut date and nut balls. Beverages include soda, juice, tea, and water. You can eat in or take your salad home with you.

The History of Giardino Gourmet SaladIt goes without saying when you read the history of Giardino Gourmet Salad that such a place would make a healthy alternative to fast food chains which seem to offer junk food and not much more. You can choose your own salad at Giardino’s, so you can make it as healthy and low fat as you wish. Of course, if you want to add creamy dressings, cheese and other not-so-healthy toppings, you can do that instead!

Giardino Salad or Homemade Salad

You might be wondering whether to pick up a Giardino salad for lunch, after learning about the history of Giardino gourmet salad, or whether to make your own. If you have the time, it might be a good idea to make your own salad. No matter how delicious a Giardino salad is, a homemade salad means you can add exactly the ingredients you like, not just what they happen to have in the salad store. Also, you can control the portion size and choose your favorite dressing.

You have more say in what goes into your salad when you make your own, and it is also a lot cheaper to make your own salad at home. Sometimes it is nice to order a salad or pick one up for lunch, or even to go out for lunch and order a salad in a restaurant, but other times it is easier and cheaper to make your own satisfying salads at home, and you can experiment with any salad recipes you like.
